The Teachers' Standards in England set the minimum requirements for teachers' practice and conduct. They are divided into two main parts:
Part One: Teaching
- Set High Expectations: Inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
- Promote Good Progress and Outcomes: Be accountable for pupils' attainment, progress, and outcomes.
- Demonstrate Good Subject and Curriculum Knowledge: Maintain strong knowledge of the subjects taught.
- Plan and Teach Well-Structured Lessons: Ensure lessons are engaging and effective.
- Adapt Teaching: Meet the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs.
- Make Accurate and Productive Use of Assessment: Use assessments to monitor progress and inform teaching.
- Manage Behaviour Effectively: Ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.
- Fulfil Wider Professional Responsibilities: Engage in professional development and contribute to the wider school community.
Part Two: Personal and Professional Conduct
- Uphold Public Trust: Maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour.
- Safeguard Pupils' Well-being: Ensure the safety and well-being of pupils.
These standards are designed to ensure that teachers provide high-quality education and maintain professional integrity
